District Governor's Message
"During autumn, when we look upward, we will see our Canadian Geese flying southward in a triangular formation and their calls. Do you know what happens during their long flight, and how each and every single one of these flying squadrons contributes in its own way? Did you ever wonder what happened when one of these geese got tired? Do they stop flying and wait till this team member is rested? You see the leader of the pack, which is the one in front leading the way, bears the responsibility of making sure the pack is heading in the right direction. When the leader gets tired, one of the geese from the side moves forward and becomes the leader. Then the previous leader stays in the middle, supported by the flapping motion of the fellow geese and carries on with their flight southward. This resting pattern continues on until the pack stops for food."
This story is the theme for the current year of 2009/2010. I will be concentrating on team building and leadership training. I will encourage and work on co-operation and support within our district. I will help promote leadership training within our district by concentrating on membership orientation, training and communication.
We will build a strong team and that every member is a leader in his or her own way.
Fellow Lions, this year will be an action pack year, a year of team and leadership building. We will be building teams, bridges and leadership!
Together we will support International President Eberhard J. Wirfs to achieve his goal of ‘Move to Grow’. He expresses the thought that all things need momentum in order to progress. The adaptable ginkgo tree represents this idea, and symbolizes hope and peace. Like Lions Clubs International, the ginkgo has an esteemed heritage, longevity, value and global abundance.
